Las Dunas started as a vacational center in 1976.

Las Dunas Hotel has received and sheltered important national and international events. In 1989 it witnessed the third reunion of the "Grupo de los Ocho" (Group of the Eight) which reunited the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay. It has also been the setting for one of the most important national events, the Annual Conference of Peruvian Executives (CADE) on five occasions, as well as other international meetings.
